Members of the public were on Thurday morning spotted siphoning oil after an oil tanker overturned at General Motors along Mombasa road. The oil tanker which rolled at 4am in the morning left a pool of oil and some Kenyans as usual saw a opportunity to make money. Tens of residents who live along Mombasa road rushed to the scene to siphon the oil. Despite the disastrous dangers that lie in siphoning oil from fallen oil tankers, the residents were not pertubed. The accident saw Kenyans stuck on the road for hours as many heading to the JKIA airport and to work were delayed. Those using public means opted for boda boda while others walked to their various destinations. Nairobi head of traffic Edward Mwamburi said the incident would take long to clear because some of the fuel had spilled on the road. He mobilised his officers to direct motorists to use the opposite lane and other alternative routes. Kimaiyo tweeted about three hours ago "An Overturned tanker at GM on Mombasa rd is causing heavy traffic jam. Police are on the ground. The wreckage is currently being removed."
